Ole Bull Museum Lysøen is closed for summer 2020, due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to see you back at the museum when the situation is back to normal. Thank you for your understanding!
Daily tours of Ole Bull's villa is arranged during the museum opening hours. The Lysøen boat shuttle has regular departures every hour on the hour from Buena quay at Lysekloster to the island of Lysøen. Every Sunday concerts, lectures or hiking will be arranged, and in July and August you can join our "Enchanted by Ole Bull" tour including transport, concert, guided tour and hiking.
Lysøen also includes both a café and a small souvenir shop. The café serves light food like coffee and waffles, while the souvenir shop has a selection of Ole Bull-related books, CD’s and postcards.
More than a museum
Lysøen has much more to offer than Ole Bull's beautiful villa. The island is a perfect place for hiking with a beautiful forest, great viewpoints, pleasant picnic areas and 13 km with white walking paths all across the island. To visit Lysøen outside the museum opening hours is possible, but you’ll have to arrive with own boat transportation.
Lysøen also has nice beaches and old farm buildings from the 1600s that visitors can experience on their own.
Welcome to Ole Bull’s fairytale island - Lysøen!
